CGA Appointed at The Goldsmiths' Centre - Working Around 120 Active Jewellers

Some projects come with an unusual constraint. At The Goldsmiths' Centre in Farringdon, ours is this: the building is home to over 120 active jewellers and goldsmiths, working in specialist workshop spaces that need to keep running while we work around them.

CGA has been appointed to carry out mechanical and electrical upgrade works: replacing the existing air conditioning system with a new VRF installation and delivering a full replacement of the domestic hot water system. Both are significant infrastructure upgrades in an occupied, specialist building.

The Goldsmiths' Centre is not a standard commercial space. The 120-plus jewellers and goldsmiths working here need consistent, reliable conditions for precision work. The M&E upgrades are designed to improve those conditions. Delivering them without disrupting the work going on around us is the operational challenge.

Before going on site, CGA carried out investigation surveys and design development, working closely with the centre's team to understand the existing systems and what working around them requires. That groundwork shapes how the project runs.

A sector CGA does not work in every day, in a building with a very specific community. Getting it right matters.
