CGA at Holy Trinity Clapham 250th Birthday

June 19, 2026

Holy Trinity Clapham turned 250 at the weekend. CGA was there.

The church marked it with two services, prayer, music, children's activities and food for the congregation. A full day.

The history is well known. William Wilberforce and his circle, the Clapham Sect, lived around Clapham Common and worshipped at HTC while they campaigned for the abolition of the slave trade. A parish church, a group of friends, a campaign that changed British law.

CGA has been on site for Revitalise 250: the extension and internal fit-out and refurbishment of the 18th-century building. Works have included new extensions to the north and south elevations, specialist interior works to the Narthex, Nave, Gallery and Chancel, and a new M&E installation throughout. In the weeks before the birthday, the team pushed to achieve partial possession so the services could go ahead as planned.

HTC have been generous in their thanks for the care the site team and supply chain have given the project. A few months of work remain. We look forward to delivering the finished building to a congregation that has waited long enough for it.

Further celebrations continue over the coming week.
